En términos generales, mis líneas de investigación se enmarcan dentro de la disciplina de la biología de la conservación. Mis investigaciones pretenden integrar aproximaciones desarrolladas por diferentes disciplinas, incluyendo las ciencias naturales, sociales y económicas, para comprender mejor las complejas y conflictivas relaciones entre la conservación de la biodiversidad y otras actividades humanas que hacen usos de los recursos naturales. En particular, mis estudios evalúan los conflictos entre conservacionistas, agricultores y cazadores sobre especies de interés para la conservación que tienen (o se percibe que tienen) impactos negativos, directos o indirectos, en los intereses de agricultores y cazadores. En definitiva, mi intención es mejorar el conocimiento sobre los conflictos de conservación a través de un marco multidisciplinar con el último fin de buscar soluciones que ayuden a mitigar dichos conflictos y, por tanto, favorezcan un uso sostenible de los recursos naturales.

Uno de mis principales modelos de estudio es la conflictiva gestión del conejo de monte (Oryctolagus cuniculus) en la Península Ibérica, donde el lagomorfo es simultáneamente un especie clave para los ecosistemas mediterráneos, una de las principales especies de caza y una especie plaga que puede crear daños a cultivos.
Mis investigaciones abordan estos múltiples papeles del conejo, así como las tensiones existentes entre los actores involucrados en su gestión: conservacionistas, cazadores y agricultores. Mis investigaciones también analizan otros sistemas de estudio similares, incluyendo los conflictos asociados a la gestión de otras especies de caza, como la perdiz roja (Alectoris rufa), y a la de pequeños mamíferos que causan daños agrícolas , así como los conflictos generados por los depredadores y su control.
